Why Electric Power Steering?

Due to the way the engine is mounted with a front cradle, there is no way to

install a hydraulic power steering pump. Also the stock steering box almost

touches the headers so a newer wider box would also be a problem.

Remount and move the engine? No thanks, says the 72 year old geezer.

Here is the kit I am considering

The EPAS unit above and all others I know about do not alter the steering

assist in relation to the speed the car is going. So in order to have maximum

assist while stopped and proportional reduction of assist the faster the car goes,

I am trying to come up with a circuit/s that will do just that. The unit above has a

knob / pot where you pre-set the effort at a given level for all speeds.

This circuit development is not as easy as it might seem. Time will tell.
